SOUTH OF THE 10 - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development returned the city of Inglewood’s 2020 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) because the City needed to make revisions before it would be accepted.

RANDOM LENGTHS NEWS - Once again LA City Councilman Joe Buscaino wants another ordinance outlawing homelessness on the streets of Los Angeles.

SOUTH OF THE 10 - The president of the Los Angeles City Council Wednesday appointed former councilman Herb Wesson to represent the city’s 10th district to replace Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, who was suspended after being indicted in a federal corruption case.

HOUSING POLITICS - I was intrigued by a recent article in The Daily Beast with the double-edged title: “Yimbys Could Solve the Affordable Housing Crisis if They Weren’t So Busy Being Trolls.” 

THE EASTSIDER - It’s always seemed to me that pot shops (or Cannabis Dispensaries) have popped up in Northeast LA without notice, and in areas that the community may or may not be aware of in advance.

COMMENTARY - The word “commonwealth,” be it that of the collapsing British Empire or that of the state of Massachusetts, comes from the olde English “common weal” or common good.

RANDOM LENGTHS NEWS - On Jan. 26, Los Angeles City Councilmember Joe Buscaino called for an investigation into the Union Pacific rail thefts calling this a “crisis.”

SOUTH OF THE 10 - Remind me if I’m wrong or not but hasn’t the catch phrase over the past two years been trust the science, trust the professional?

COMMENTARY - The Glendale Water & Power (GWP) folks are back and just as bad as ever. 

MY THOUGHTS - In 2002 I voted for the San Fernando Valley to secede from the City of Los Angeles.  The gentleman who really sparked the movement, passed away Tuesday.

PLANNING WATCH -  Real estate is a highly profitable business, especially when its income comes from rents.

SOUTH OF THE 10 - Los Angeles County has released fundraising documents for the upcoming Sheriff’s race with Alex Villanueva outraising his challengers by a 9-1 margin.
