CD11 FILE - In what is officially a non-partisan campaign for Mayor of Los Angeles as well as a seat on the LA City Council, the two Democratic progressives are making gains with voters and residents as they stress their democratic credentials in this race to succeed outgoing Mayor Eric Garcetti and the retiring Councilmember Mike Bonin.
SOUTH PACIFIC AVE - When I first arrived in San Pedro, the local chamber of commerce celebrated the demolition of old Beacon Street with a federally-funded urban renewal project and the town came out and celebrated with a street party.
CD10 FILE - The attempted rush to approve an interim city council member for the 10th district is a slap in the face to neighborhood councils, but it’s their fault that it happened.
THE EASTSIDER - I’ll never forget a LANCC meeting at LA City College, back in the early 2000’s. Ken Draper was there, handing out printed CityWatch newspapers.
THE EASTSIDER - This time we’re going to take a look at LAHSA (the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority), a joint City/County entity seeking to go beyond LA City’s interest in getting the homeless off the streets, and purporting to transition them into recentering society.
CD 15 - On Aug. 13, Central San Pedro Neighborhood Council President Lou Caravella resigned as both president and board member.
