SOUTH OF THE 10 - Attorneys representing the Sheriff’s department and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) will go before a Superior court judge July 19 at 8:30 a.m. to meet and confer on a warrant served on Metro’s offices and those of the Inspector General.
The meet and confer is to whittle down the scope of the search warrant which the Court found “overbroad”.
The warrant was approved March 3, 2022, with Metro’s request to have the warrant unsealed denied April 5, 2022. The warrants are for two separate cases surrounding the Peace over Violence contract that was recently scrapped.
The contract was to support a victims hotline for users of the bus and rail lines operated by Metro. An expose on Fox News revealed the connection between POV and a member of Metro’s board.
Documents were requested from 2014 through 2020.
Is this why the Board of Supervisors are hell bent on removing the Sheriff? It could also explain the exodus of Metro staff and elected officials from seeking re-election this November.
