CITYWATCH TODAY—The House Intelligence Committee demanded that President Trump provide evidence by today (Monday) to support his claim that his Trump Tower phone was wiretapped by former President Obama. As of the 6p … CityWatch posting deadline … President Trump had … to no one’s surprise … not done that. Confirming, it would seem yet another in a lengthy list fabrications by the current US President.
California Congressman Adam Schiff said on Friday, “I don’t think anyone has any question about this … the only question is why the president would make up such a thing?” Because he can’t help himself. Because he is a liar. I would suggest.
An equally important question is why his apologists continue to support his lying. People that we might under other circumstances consider to be thoughtful and intelligent folks … feel the need to defend this liar. They immediately slip into the ‘it-s-not-what-he-says-it’s-what-he-means’ mode and begin the Trump-apologist dance like a naked emperor.
I’ve long since grown weary of the Trumpster’s tales. I’m also growing tired … and unforgiving … of the Trump apologists. This is serious. Grow up. Get a life. This is the Donald. Admit you support lying and liars or, stop apologizing. You’re making fools of yourselves.
Columnist Mark Shields reminded us recently of how important the word of the President of the United States is. As President Kennedy was about to challenge the Russians during the Bay of Pigs crisis he dispatched an emissary to France to give French President Charles de Gaulle a heads-up. The messenger said to de Gaulle, I have been instructed by President Kennedy to show you the satellite proof that Russia has weapons installed and pointed at the United States. And, de Gaulle responded to the emissary, “I don’t need to see the pictures. I have the word of the President of the United States of America.”
One wonders. One worries. As the fabrications continue to spiral, will anyone, any longer, trust the word of the President of our United States. Or, his apologists?
