Editor’s Memo: My Last LA Traffic Jam

WORLD WATCH

CITYWATCH TODAY—You are backed up in traffic. Dashboard clock reminds you it’s been 28 minutes. A martini is a half hour or more away. You’re feeling edgy. The words form on your lips. ‘This is my last LA traffic jam. Ever!’

You are squirreling your way through Downtown LA traffic, choked to a crawl by one construction project after another … in the shadowed canyons of partially built skyscrapers. You’re late. Now, you’re later. The words form on your lips. ‘If they want New York, they should pack up and move there.’

What are they doing to my LA? Am I the only one feeling this outrage? How can I stop this over-development? How can I stop the densification of Los Angeles?

Producer-director Michael Wilson shares your angst. And, shares his wisdom on what to do about it … in Today’s CityWatch. It’s time to act, he says. See if you agree.

In the meantime, frustration on other fronts: Bob Gelfand doesn’t think Los Angeles is prepared for the ‘big one’ … and Tim Deegan asks if California’s coastline is in danger and wonders if anyone cares. This and more, in Today’s CityWatch. We need you in the discussion. Your thoughts are welcome.
