Mayor’s Latest Homeless Move … New Camp Clean-Up Crews … May be Too Little, Too Late

LOS ANGELES

GUEST COMMENTARY-Recently in a press conference, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the doubling of sanitation crews to clean up the City’s homeless sites on a regular basis.

While this is a good start to address the health hazards created by homeless camps, he showed no inclination to explain how he will bring smarter people together to make a workable plan to eliminate the homeless epidemic in our city.

It seems like the Mayor, who further states he takes full responsibility for the problems, shows us no plan and no leadership. Rather, he gives city stakeholders the feeling that they have a Mayor who surrenders.

While bulky trash is the biggest trash issue, you can blame that on not having a sanitation police force with teeth to enforce the law. The real issue to tackle is preventing homeless people from being dumped on our streets with no hope in sight other than the short term “solution” of booze and drugs and eventual death.
