GUEST COMMENTARY - There is no mask or vaccine that can protect communities from high conflict. Even people who are highly skilled at avoidance and de-escalation can get stuck in bitter, all-consuming, no-win battles in their hometowns.

COMMENTARY - Ah, it’s the end of 2021 and those who made money this year are busy trying to shelter their income from the taxman.  And those in Congress are trying to avoid another government shutdown. 

US HOUSE OF BICKERING - A “grifter,” “trash,” a “religious bigot,” and “tattletale” are only some of the recent insults lobbed between Republican congresswomen Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in their ongoing feud over racist comments made by another GOP flamethrower.

OPEN LETTER TO THE LEADER OF TURKEY - Dear President Erdogan, I send this open letter to you because it pains me to see a country like Turkey, which could have reached the pinnacle of power and influence, envied by her adversaries and revered by her friends, has fallen into disgrace, thanks to your corrupt and misguided leadership.

UNCIVIL LIBERTIES - The ACLU of Northern California has concluded a year-long Freedom of Information campaign by uncovering massive spying on Black Lives Matter protests from the air.

RACIAL RECKONINGS - The holiday season is in full swing, with Christmas carols on the radio and shopping sales luring customers to spend their cash.

PERSPECTIVE ON RITTENHOUSE - I was a troubled teen. I remember the day I was called to my high school’s administrative office to receive a call. He gave me advice I have never forgotten.

COMMENTARY - The Summit for Democracy that President Biden is spearheading in December, at which scores of countries will be in in attendance, is certainly timely and necessary.
