The Biden Legacy: Talk To The Hand

VOICES

ALPERN AT LARGE - I’m not sure President Biden and his Administration intended to unite the nation in this manner, but during his last month Biden and those in his circle appear to be doing just that, and are shredding whatever credibility he had prior to the election season.

It’s certain that President Trump has his own long laundry list of credibility and policy issues and Administration choices, but right now there’s only one acting President—President Biden.

After years of being relatively hidden from the legacy media (who amazingly tolerated this absence and covered for Biden), this failure to account for his failures are now being recognized and confronted by Biden supporters and opponents alike.

Accordingly, while the nation and world keep addressing President Trump as if Trump were the acting President, supporters and opponents alike are confronting his legacy and associated messaging and optics:

1) Inflation is nothing we can do about, and it’ll be just fine…talk to the hand.

2) Trump was wrong about immigration, and we’ve got this problem handled better and in a more humane manner than during the Trump Era…talk to the hand.

3) We’re friends to Jews and Christians alike, both here and abroad…talk to the hand.

4) Our energy policy is sound and sustainable…talk to the hand.

5) Jobs are aplenty—including good, career jobs…talk to the hand.

6) The Biden Family ethics are honorable and transparent…talk to the hand.

7) Joe, and not Jill, Biden is in firm and solid control of the White House policies and Administration actions…talk to the hand.

8) Vice-President Kamala Harris will be a fine Border Czar and Presidential successor to President Joe Biden…talk to the hand.

9) The borders are under control, we need no wall, and both Mexico and Canada respect that…talk to the hand.

10) Crimes from illegal immigrants are not a significant issue…talk to the hand.

11) Our support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies and executive orders is the right approach to achieve diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and in our society…talk to the hand.

12) Our support of Critical Race Theory and associated teaching and education policies have helped bring racial division to a close in the United States of America…talk to the hand.

13) Our record with FEMA and recent hurricane relief efforts is fair, competent, and with a solid outcome…talk to the hand.

14) We do not weaponize the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Justice, and the FBI…talk to the hand.

15) Our debt issue and associated rise in interest rates were unavoidable and sustainable…talk to the hand.

16) The cost of living is being brought to bear with respect to rise in food, housing, utility, and other day-to-day costs…talk to the hand.

17) We’ve handled antisemitism in our universities and brought rioters and have put universities on notice that they’ll lose federal funding grants if antisemitism policies (and punishment for those who violate them) are not enforced…talk to the hand.

18) The whole Ukraine/Burisma thing was just a big, fat hoax…talk to the hand.

19) The world respects us, and the military supports the Biden Administration policies, and we’ve got that “drone thing” under control…talk to the hand.

20) Joe Biden “still has it”, and never lost it…talk to the hand.

President Trump will be President soon, much to the chagrin of many, but President Biden still is in charge and in power for another month…also much to the chagrin of many.

So how will Trump, his Administration, those who voted for him, and those who voted for Biden but now wished they could have voted for Biden address those who complain about the reversal of Biden’s policies?

I’m guessing they’ll ask the complainers to talk to the hand.
