Constitution 1, Racism 0 (Deal With It!)

VOICES

ALPERN AT LARGE - Guess what, everybody? The Constitution was upheld today, as well as MLK's dream about "content of character and not color of skin" be what people are judged by.

And for those who have a problem with it, please consider that their/your racism and divisive attitudes are destroying our nation and world.

We're in a gaslighting, upside-down world where those screaming about "civil rights" are the ones who are most responsible for denying those rights, and those screaming about "racism" are the biggest, most horrible racists we're suffering from today.

The SCOTUS supported Asian students, predominantly.

And notice how white Americans, by and large, support the success of our Asian countrymen/women in their endeavors, despite being called "racists".

And who voted in the minority in this 6-3 vote? Sonia Sotomayor (specifically nominated as a Latina female), Ketanji Brown Jackson (specifically nominated as a black female), and Elena Kagan (specifically nominated as a female). Affirmative action, got the first two into a Supreme Court that they never should have been allowed entrance--not because they're brown or black, but because neither are too qualified compared to other of American judges with their skin color/ethnic background.

However...

1) Supreme Court Justice Kagan, liberal as she is, has a pretty impressive track record prior to her nomination to the Supreme Court.

In contrast, Ms. "Wise Latina" Sotomayor" and Ms. "I don't know what the difference between a man and woman...I'm not a biologist) Brown Jackson...not so much. Again, there's NO doubt that there are plenty of liberal-leaning women of all colors who need not be nominated merely because of their skin color.

2) In all fairness and honesty, conservative Supreme Court Justices have also been named to the highest court in the land with their color in mind (Clarence Thomas) and gender in mind (Amy Coney Barrett)...but like Justice Kagan, their credentials were always very high and respected despite those who disagree with their political track record and political involvement.

Of course, what did President Joseph Robinette "I used to throw away black males into prison in the 1990's, and then nominated a complete moron (Kamala Harris) as my VP because it was politically helpful to nominate a black and female" Biden, Jr. have to say about it?  And, as well as, all the "experts" who are destroying the cohesion of our nation?  They hate it. It trashes their ability to classify and judge people on the color of their skin rather than the content of their character.

Methinks MLK would not be too thrilled with them...he kinda hated racists.

So do I, and a whole bunch of liberal, conservative, and in-between Americans who are reasonable and really dislike bigots.

God forbid we have black, Latino/a, Asian, white, or whatever nominated to medical schools, law schools, undergraduate schools, judgeships, political appointments, etc. because of their capabilities.

And we definitely, without any question, have both liberal and conservative smart people capable and competent to handle the leadership we need more than ever.

Oh, and have you heard?

This same SCOTUS also rejected the GOP case in North Carolina about redistricting because it would hurt minority representation, and to boot cases on voting rights, Native American child welfare laws, and Biden administration immigration policy?

This court might be decidedly conservative, but they did NOT and do NOT choose to be a rubber stamp to the far right, no matter how much Republican/conservative/libertarians might be unhappy with their rulings.

Ain't it nice to not have a bigoted, hyperpartisan Supreme Court?

In other words, the same three justices that Donald Trump nominated to the Supreme Court not only decided against taking the former President's case in the contested 2020 presidential elections, but they also can be moderate and even support "liberal" causes if they think that the Constitution supports a given ruling.

And they're not always the same person--you know, Supreme Court Justice SotoKaganJackson-Brown, who almost ALWAYS vote in a manner that's predictable and as one rubber stamp voice (it's fair to argue that Supreme Court Justice  AlitoThomas is the same person, too).

But look at how nice it is to have the other four "conservative" justices (Roberts, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney-Barrett) will operate not out of theology/dogma, but instead out of Constitutional Law.

Which is what they're supposed to do

So let's hear it for treating people like individual human beings, and not like animals of a given subspecies based on their appearances (kind of like we do for dogs, cats, and birds)!

Let's train and recruit as many people of all colors as we can--there are PLENTY of black and brown Americans who can help us move forward together as a cohesive, color-blind, character-focused society!

And let's put the racism of the Left, which is just as horrible and deplorable as the racism of the Right, in the trashbin of history where it's always belonged!
