President Trump said recently that he got more electoral votes than any president since Reagan. Not close to being true, of course. What’s worse, any fool can Google it in seconds and know it’s not true. And yet … we’re alright with it. Moral leadership from our President no longer an expectation. Feeling a bit squirmy about being lied to? Let’s call it ‘alternative facts’ and watch the discomfort go away. Ignorance has such healing power.
In Today’s CityWatch, Jack Humphreville and Richard Abrams take up the fake truth issue … LA style. Angelenos may not have to look to Washington for fake facts … is the essence of their two reports.
Humphreville calls into question the Mayor’s comments on an analysis done by Beacon Economics … the Mayor saying that ‘Measure S will cause major job losses, will cost taxpayer’s millions and will make housing and homelessness even worse.’ Faulty facts says Humphreville.
And, Abrams contends that there are plenty of alt-facts to go around in LA … especially regarding pensions and benefits, and city lawsuits and more.
