Editor’s Memo: Pet People

WORLD WATCH

CITYWATCH TODAY—Of all the many articles CityWatch publishes, nothing pushes our hot button like animal stories. Nothing. It is also a subject that all of us … ALL of us … think we have at least some expertise worthy of an opinion. We also have an excellent Animal Watch writer. Phyllis Daugherty is dedicated, works hard at it and knows what she’s talking about. In Today’s CityWatch, she takes on the in-one-door-and-out-the-other climate at the City’s Animal Services Department. We call it ‘Mismanagement on a Gerbil Wheel.’ Check Phyllis’ feature column out. Let us know what you think. Seems like LA’s animals deserve better.

A politics plug: If you missed Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump on SNL Sat nite … we saved it for you in the CityWatch TV section, right in the middle of the front page. We promise some out loud laughs.

Finally, when people are appointed to what LA calls ‘citizen commissions’ one has to wonder … do they speak for the ‘citizens’? Or, the mayor who appointed them? The question will be put to the test soon. The DWP Board gets into the too-costly Fig Plaza debate and Jack Humphreville wonders if anyone is speaking for the ratepayers in this political and administrative tussle. His is the lead column in Today’s CityWatch. Let us know what you know. We like hearing from you.
