THE VIEW FROM HERE - Being a Centrist makes life easier. Whenever someone says something, a Centrists merely notes that a statement has been made with no compulsion to believe or disbelieve it. Facts are the basis for belief. Then, however, comes the hard part for Centrists – thinking. The first step in thinking is to gather facts. In a polarized society that can be difficult since both MAGA and Wokers have no use for facts; their sole concern is to say whatever advances their narrative.
Trump Is Not the First World Class Loser
Let’s see how each issue he has addressed is turning out.
1) Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, but it is clear that he has submitted completely to Putin.
2) Trump threatened Hamas with extinction and keep shouting that Iran will not get the bomb. Hamas is still functioning because Trump like Biden restrained Netanyahu when Israel could have ended Hamas. Trump does not even call for Hamas total, complete and unconditional surrender. Iran appears to have enough nuclear material for a number of nuclear weapons and is working on delivery systems. Since Putin has taken Iran under his wing, it looks as if we have lost both Ukraine and the Mid East on Trump’s watch. The world will soon face the alliance of four nuclear powers – Russia, Iran, North Korea, and Iran
3) Trump surrendered to the Houthis by selling out Israel. Thus, the Houthis are busy rearming themselves to launch more attacks on Israel. Mostly likely, the Houthis will be coordinated with Iran’s nuclear devices.
4) Trump’s DOGE crashed and burned. Not only did DOGE not save any money, but by the time all the lawsuits and the other harm done to America’s science and medicine from the ruin of vital programs, DOGE will have cost us billions of dollars. In addition, Trump’s good buddy, Elon, has called Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill is a “disgusting abomination,” but Musk is as dumb about macro-economics as Trump.
5) Trump is imposing huge tariff-taxes on all US consumers based upon his delusion that China, etc. pay tariff money to the US. Tariffs tax food, while only ten states levy taxes food. In his delusional approach to tariffs, Trump cannot comprehend that he is not attacking only Blacks, but also poor Whites, especially the elderly. Just wait until millions of White seniors have to ask their children for food money and see how popular Trump is when we see Trump dole out billions to his Grifter buddies.
6) Now Trump is attacking Los Angeles workers. In Trump’s delusion that he has a mandate to deport 1,000 people a day, Trump believes that he can declare another faux insurrection and then send in US Marines to rule Los Angeles. Trump ignores at his peril that many in the California National Guard and many US Marines are Mexican and have friends and relatives who have lived here for decades, own homes and have businesses.
Trying to deport Mexicans from Los Angeles is like deporting Jews from Jerusalem. Remember, the Mexicans founded Los Angeles in 1769. More importantly, not only did Anglos come here and steal the land by force, but the Mexicans are indispensable members of our society with a very high participation rate in the military.
Because Trump suffers from a Histrionic Personalty Disorder, he thrives on cheers and being the center of attention plus he has an irrational belief that he has great relationship with people who hate him. Putin detests Trump as an obese, blowhard, draft dodger. As dangerous as Putin may be, he fought his way up through the dog-eat-dog KGB and has actually had the guts to kill his enemies. With one of the world’s most fragile egos, BoneSpurs Donny has surrounded himself with an array of sickening sycophants. Some are dumb like Pig Hegseth, while others are immoral opportunists, taking advantage Trump’s mental inadequacies similar to how the Dems abused Biden in his declined.
Would Be Tyrants Surround Themselves with the Worst of the Worst
While mentally challenged tyrants surround themselves with sycophants, it can take years for their fatal errors to catch up with them. Hitler’s generals told him not send troops into the Rhineland, but he ignored them. France and England immediately caved. The generals told him not to invade Czechoslovakia, but he ignored them and ate the Sudetenland and then all of Czechoslovakia. Since he succeeded in the short run, Hitler could not see how actions were foolish and would mislead him to again ignore his generals and invade Poland. Poland was a long term blunder as it prematurely brought England into the War and stimulated the US war production. Thinking that he had the Allied Powers on the run in the West, he broke his non-aggression pack with Stalin and he diverted troops to invade Russia. As a result, as happened to Napoleon, the Russia winter defeated the Nazi invaders.
Americans’ Understanding of WW II Is Simplistic
We tend to think that we won because we are good! A wiser analysis is that due to his mental illness and his being surrounded by Yes Men, Hitler’s fatal errors finally accumulated to do him in. That was after millions of people were dead and most of Europe destroyed. There were several places where Germans could have stopped Nazism, but they chose to believe in “Germany First” and then they were cowed into obedience. See How Nazis Lost
What Will be Trump’s Next Serious Error?
If Trump persists in his immigration raids, his actions will adversely impact the economies of the Southwest. Already, Los Angeles’ general public is being harmed since the stores cannot function without the illegals. Groceries are missing from store shelves. As more Mexicans stay home, there will not be enough Anglo and Blacks to replace them in hotels, factories, car washes, Ube drivers, Amazon drivers. Like Gays, Mexicans are everywhere. Those who merely look Mexican are being seized and incarcerated without Due Process.
Right now, only the courts can save us from Trump, but many judges in the Federal systems favor creating the Unitary Presidency where power is removed from Congress, from the states and from the courts. Then, the President may rule unchallenged simply by shouting another Big Lie, “There is an insurrection. All power to me.”
The huge difference between the German Nazis and Trump and his MAGA trolls is that the Germans inflicted harm on foreigners far, far away. Trump follies, however, are already harming Americans. While his tariff-taxes are in flux, all tariffs fall heaviest on consumers. Reduction in Medicaid and Food Stamps (SNAP) will harm not only the people who not get adequate food, but also on the food markets who operate on a small margin. The Nazi blunders took years to result in total disaster, one hopes that Trump’s follies will be reversed ASAP.
