A Gracious Victory or an Ignominious Backing Down?

VOICES

ACCORDING TO LIZ - You’d think the Evil Uber-Lord saved the day from Canadian bacon and Mexican jumping beans from the headlines in American newspapers.

Ass-licking included this from the once-respected New York Times:

Mexico and Canada Reach Last-Minute Deal With Trump to Avert Trade War

President [Trippy] agreed to delay tariffs on Mexico and Canada for a month after both countries pledged to do more to block drugs and migrants.

Mm-hmm.

I thought it was Canada that won with its threats of retaliatory tariffs on goods that would have sent gas prices and electric bills on this side of the border soaring while Twitter Brains eked out second place – hard not to do in a competition with only two contestants…

And that only by dusting off Biden’s deal with Trudeau to bring more resources to a border that has been demilitarized since Canada’s invasion of the United States and burning of its capital over 200 years ago.

To placate the ADHD Toddler, Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc agreed that the less than one percent of American-seized fentanyl was “one per cent too much” given that figures from U.S. Customs and Border Protection show it impounded a whopping 19.5 kilos of the deadly drug along the northern border last year.

Over 9,570 kilos were confiscated crossing from Mexico during the same period.

More likely Trudeau made the move to put troops on the border to control Americans fleeing north to sanctuary before the trickle turns into a flood.

And to put the Diminutive-P3nised Prez on notice that annexing Canada as the 51st state – as well as angering Texas that would be toppled from claiming it was the biggest state – might require more than a simple stroll across the 49th parallel.

Although imposition of tariffs is purportedly to allow domestic manufacturing to flourish, little has been said about their inflationary effect on imported raw materials necessary to make those goods in the United States.

Meanwhile Canadian reporters were cracking up from the Little Caesar’s claim Canada wouldn’t allow ingress to American banks. After all they have always been welcome… so long as they adhere to existing regulations.

Something U.S. banks don’t want to do. After all, how would they have been able to tank the American economy in 2008 if they had to adhere to such stringent requirements?

As for Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, it sounds like her troops are on the move less to participate in DEA drug interdiction programs than to hold the line on guns being trafficked south from the United States.

We are finally seeing chinks in Teflon’s armor; while the Senate continues to cave, intense and sustained opposition taken to American judges is starting to force Bran-for-Brains to stand down.

Canada and Mexico thumbing their noses at the Would-be Emperor has set the stage for further rejection.

And we must take to heart the words of England’s Winston Churchill from another war on another continent: “… we shall not flag or fail... we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength… we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”

Even though the process can be achingly slow, we can succeed with persistence, even on multiple fronts, following the hailstorm of the Felon Führer’s questionable – and oft-times illegal – executive orders.

Executive orders promulgated precisely because they would not, could not survive the sniff test of Congress.

We cannot give up if we value democracy.

The American people, the American government must put the Frantic Felon where he belongs, behind bars before he can damage the country and its infrastructure any further. Since “normal process” is already in tatters, demand a snap election – after all, how many of us want any of the Troll’s Posse to stay in place?

And do it before the international community moves to place the United States under indictment for the creation and internment of unwanted migrants in Concentration Camp Guantánamo.

Before His Idiocy follows up on his suggestion to create a Riviera by evicting all Gazans from Gaza by incarcerating our minorities – Blacks, native Americans, Hispanics, those on the LGBTQ spectrum, the intelligentsia – with those targeted illegals already languishing in Cuba.

Before the international community moves to place the Fascist Duo under indictment for the murder of thousands of Americans through the removal of basic services upon which the lives of millions depend – public health, Social Security, the VHA, Medicare.

Before the American economy completely collapses from the weight of ineptitude MAGA-man purists hired for their ideologies bring to replacing the skilled public servants that, until now, kept the wheels of government turning.

To end with another Churchill quote from when another Hitler was winning his war: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

And it will take time and effort to undo the damages already done.
