THE VIEW FROM HERE - As predicted in Monday’s column Hamas’ Charter Adopts the Nazis’ Final Solution for Jews, as the Israeli Defense Forces get more boots on the ground in Gaza, the IDF can reduce the number of Hamas’ Human Shields who die in the fighting.
When, however, the IDF is on the ground, it can see who is who, and thus, it can more effectively avoid civilian casualties
Hamas’ use of Human Shields is a war crime, a fact which the Woke media and its allies such as the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) who support Hamas, fail to mention.
The use of human shields is forbidden by Protocol I of the Geneva Conventions. It is also a specific intent war crime as codified in the Rome Statute, which was adopted in 1998. Wiki
The IDF Opens Safe Routes for Gaza’s Human Shields to Escape
When the IDF first opened an escape route for Gazans to flee the few miles south (about 6 to 10 miles journey), Hamas opened fire on the escaping on the IDF and Human Shields. Now that there are more IDF troops in Gaza City, it can guarantee safe passage to areas in Southern Gaza which are without Hamas tunnels and where foreign aid can be delivered to Gazans without fear that it will be stolen by Hamas. As the Wall Street Journal reports, “Up to 15,000 people fled to the south through a corridor opened by the Israeli military on Tuesday, three times more than the previous day, . . . Hamas and its Woke allies like the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) realize that as Israel protects Hamas’ Human Shields as they escape, the number of dead children and women will drastically drop. The exodus of the Human Shields is a military disaster for Hamas. Hamas and the Woke thrive on the false story that Israel is intentionally killing women and children. Thus, Hamas and the Woke media have launched their new propaganda campaign to stop Gazans from fleeing, by trying to terrify Gazans into remaining as Human Shields in the north.
What Biden called a Humanitarian Pause yesterday has now become an unworkable plan. Secretary of State Blinken conflates Israel’s helping Human Shields to voluntarily escape from Hamas with “forcible displacement of Palestinians.” “The United States believes key elements should include no forcible displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. ” This deliberate equating helping human shield hostages escaping with a “forcible displacement” reveals the shallow support for Israel. No Gazan is being displaced; they are merely being allowed to escape death, by moving to a safer part of Gaza.
As the WJS Journal reports: “Israel is asking Palestinians to gather in what it calls a “humanitarian zone” in al-Mawasi, a stretch of palm-lined beach with little infrastructure in the southern Gaza Strip, where Israeli officials say civilians can receive humanitarian aid brought over the border from Egypt.” WSJ ”
Since al-Mawasi is near the sea, it has very few if any Hamas military installations. Thus, IDF will not be bombing al-Mawasi, so Hamas has no use for Human Shields near the sea. Gaza City which is in the center of northern Gaza, however, is filled with Hamas military facilities under hospitals, in schools and mosques. Not only is the sea shore not a wise place to dig tunnels, the sea is on the opposite side of Gaza from Israel, where Hamas locates its tunnels in order to more easily attack Israel. In addition, the beach area, which is a few miles north of Egypt, can receive international aid for Gazans without significant interference by Hamas.
The aspect which Hamas and the Woker media hate the most is that the Israeli Humanitarian Pauses does not allow Hamas to regroup or steal any aid which Hamas’ allies would try to sneak to Hamas.
The craven villainy of the UN is highlighted by its 100% reversal on Humanitarian Pause which is now portrayed as a devious Jewish plot to steal Palestinian land. Thus, the Woke urge that the Gazan Human Shields remain in harm’s way. Senior U.N. officials called the exodus from northern Gaza an act of forced displacement, and have said that civilians should be allowed to remain where they live.” WSJ Yes, “remain where they live” so that they may die as Hamas Human Shields.
In another attempt to dissuade Gazans from fleeing to safety in the South, the UN said, “Some witnessed Israeli soldiers arresting people attempting to flee.” Duh! Of course, the IDF would arrest Hamas militants trying to escape along with their Human Shields.
What’s Next?
The Woke will launch an intense media campaign to protect Hamas from the IDF. For the Woke, it is imperative that Israel not destroy Hamas. As President Biden is already signaling, no steps may be taken to prevent the genocidal ideology of Hamas and Islamic Jihad from re-asserting itself over the Palestinians. Rather, the Palestinians must have a bizarre form of “free determination” where Palestinians remain pawns of murderous religious zealots who murder Gays, support honor killings of females and urge their youth to become suicide bombers. Meanwhile, Hamas’ billionaire leaders live far away in Qatar. For one thing, Biden has gone too far down the Woke road of appeasing Iran to abandon his Chamberlain Strategy.
Another fear of the US Administration and the Woke is the IDF’s obtaining documentation showing which Woke in the US and Europe were supporting Hamas. This collaboration is especially true for American college campuses where Jewish students have been marginalized for years, while the bulk of organized community looked the other way.
