ALPERN AT LARGE - As a Jew who leans conservative but with plenty of liberal and Democratic-leaning nuisances, I’m always blown away (no pun intended) with the number of other Jews who bend themselves into pretzels to show THEY CARE, DAMMIT! and support those all too happy to kill them.
This is particularly true for younger Jews in their teens, 20’s and 30’s who have NO clue about all the very REAL happenings that have occurred to Jewish individuals over the past century, and dismiss the following numbers and terms and names as…well…meh…irrelevant:
1948, Balfour Declaration, 1967, 1973, Achille Lauro, Leon Klinghoffer, Black September, Kiryat Shmona, Intifada, Oslo, Camp David Accords, Anwar Sadat, Abraham Accords, Iran Nuclear Deal
And certainly those who are from the “Other Side” of the conflict, who think that Hamas and their Gazan supporters are the REAL victims, are either brainwashed and indoctrinated at best (understandable, really, kind of like Hitler Youth or those caught up in the Maoist/Stalinist revolutions)
…versus those who know damn well what’s going on, and who will say or do ANYTHING to bring down Israel and the West, because they want power, they want influence, and they believe they will be better off with a New World Order that trashes and thrashes the West.
Hamas really screwed up with their most recent incursion and slaughter of Israeli civilians (including babies and children), and as well their kidnappings of so many innocents.
My fellow CityWatch author Bob Gelfand (who is about as much a polar opposite to me politically as it gets) said it very well, and wrote an excellent, first-rate, and balanced article about Hamas’ strategic mistake and the quandaries that anyone with a conscience now must face (LINK: https://www.citywatchla.com/gelfand-s-world/27813-hamas-made-a-strategic-mistake).
Hamas has been lying for years (with United Nations and media supporters who are by far more to the Left than most liberals ever could have believed), and it’s now soberly recognized that Hamas uses their own inhumane actions against Gazans while successfully blaming Israel.
Enter the recent devastating hospital blast, killing so many civilians in Gaza. The world was horrified (LINK: https://www.aol.com/news/world-leaders-responding-hospital-blast-060724808.html), but anyone who’s picked up a balanced and unbiased newspaper or website knew it was B.S. when Hamas and their supporters used the tired canard that Israel did it.
Israel, who calls Gazan residents in terrorist-occupied buildings prior to blowing them up to let the civilians know they need to escape, would blow up a hospital?
While Hamas, who have used their civilian population as human shields to firebombs in schools, mosques, and hospitals, would be above lying about killing 500-1000 people in a hospital?
Well, this nightmarish hospital bombing has opened the eyes and hearts of many an American.
And therefore it’s pretty obvious why Egypt and other Arab countries have been and are now unwilling to take in Palestinian refugees from Gaza.
Hamas and any of their Gazan supporters have dragged everyone around them into this mess, and it’s their own doing.
Jordan and Egypt and Saudi Arabia and Lebanon don’t necessarily LIKE Israel, but after all these decades realize that Israel really does NOT want violence and might even make a nice trading partner to improve the collective lot of everyone in the Mideast and around Planet Earth.
So now we have universities and groups being unfunded, and it’s anyone’s guess how the media and United Nations will end up now that it’s obvious even to those with their collective head in the sand that we’ve been lied to and manipulated for decades.
And it’s also anyone’s guess as to where Iran, and anyone willing to do business with Iran (we’re looking at you, Presidents Obama and Biden), will end up in all this massive propaganda swing that’s finally highlighting Hamas as the new Nazis of our era.
If we want to help Gaza and the Palestinians, we:
1) Have every major power in the region put down Hamas zealots, and give them the sword, gibbet, or any other method to make them disappear.
2) The same goes for Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad.
3) Re-educate Palestinian youths about both sides of the last century. Don’t let Israel and Zionists off the hook…but we don’t need another generation of child and young adult Palestinian martyrs targeting civilians.
But Hamas needs to go, and the propaganda from the U.N. and the usual talking heads needs to be called out…
…while our media and universities need to “fess up” about any gaslighting, manipulating, or downright lying that they’ve been ramming down our collective throat for years.
It’s hoped that President Biden can focus on the humanitarian aid, but also the military aid, and the re-education aid, that are needed to empower Israel and those who want the bloodshed to end…
…but also to give Palestinians, Israelis, and the rest of the world a way out of this never ending bloodbath that reigns supreme in the Middle East.
