CommentsTHE DOCTOR IS IN - President Joe Biden, it might be argued, was elected for one reason and one reason only: his name was NOT Donald Trump.
Unfortunately, the current Leader of the Free World is NOT behaving like his Democratic presidential forebearer Harry Truman (as in "the buck stops here") or his other Democratic presidential forebearer Bill Clinton (as in "it's the economy, stupid").
Those willing to acknowledge Joe Biden's verbal gaffes but vote for him anyhow (to say nothing of Biden's cackling, out-of-control incompetent vice-president Kamala Harris) to get Donald Trump out of the White House probably presumed he would lead from the middle and bring this nation together.
And I am talking about moderate Democrats and Independents, and not the Leftist and/or partisan-as-hell Democratic voters who love to watch Republicans and Main Street/blue collar Americans suffer and squirm and confront a horrible future in this nation of ours.
Outside of the usual CityWatch and Los Angeles Times writer (and perhaps their readership), and outside of the snarky and holier-than-thou SNL or late night TV host, most of clear-headed and non-partisan America is abandoning Joe Biden as much as--if not more!!!--than his predecessor Donald Trump.
After all, the polls show Joe Biden's numbers dropping below Donald Trump at a speed virtually unheard of in recent American history:
1) The suspension of the gas tax? Even a Democratic-controlled Congress has lots of doubts about that (LINK:), and many Americans keep asking the question:
Why on earth, ya MORON, did you stop the Keystone pipeline and continue the American energy independence we so recently enjoyed under the Orange-Tweeter-In-Chief-Egocentric guy before you?
Green energy and electric cars making gas, food, and utility prices march to levels unheard of? Really--THAT is supposed to make the average American believe that Putin and the GOP is responsible for Americans' quality of life go down into the toilet ?
Outside of many who write for and read CityWatch, the Times, and late-night "Republicans are stupid, despite the rise of Texas, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, and Florida as destinations for Americans to relocate" TV, most CANNOT keep up with the inflation no matter WHAT the Federal Reserve or Joe Biden does.
2) Roe vs. Wade?
Well, even that hot-button issue appears to be a non-factor in the minds of Americans (LINK: ) who are going broke and into the street, especially because of options like Plan B, chemically-induced abortions, and the efforts of many states who will likely increase access to abortions (which may be a very good thing).
3) Making the GOP into anti-science demons because there are questions about whether a vaccination effort for very young children for COVID-19 is of benefit?
Many Americans of all stripes, and the scientific community in general, are wondering about those benefits as exceeding potential risks. And many Americans have moved on from COVID-19 as the end-all, be-all of American political issues.
4) Ukraine and Russia being a rallying point to distract Americans from domestic issues? Kissing up to Saudi Arabia, with its awful civil rights record and the awful Khashoggi slicing and dicing event?
Not likely to gain respect for a president who is seen as weak and even a toady for foreign powers. That Hunter Biden thing isn't going away for quite a few reasons.
To conclude, there are two runaway issues surrounding President Biden--outside the Democratic fanboys and fangirls, of course--who seems to blame everyone but himself for our nation's problems, and who appears to be more tone-deaf than President G.W. Bush or Trump ever could be:
1) Would a DeSantis run for the presidency in 2024 overwhelm a Biden re-election effort, or a Harris election effort?
2) Did Americans choose the wrong old, bombastic, and gaslighting man to run our nation between 2020 and 2024?
