CommentsLGBTQ NATION - Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had a cutting response to Christian conservatives became apoplectic in response to Super Bowl Halftime Show, which they said was too sexual.
The legendary rapper Dr. Dre headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show and the show itself was an homage to 90s and 2000s hip hop and R&B. Compared to music videos of the era, the show was fairly tame, with some dancers in short skirts performing during 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.” Most of the performers were fully dressed and even several dancers dressed as cheerleaders wore skirts that hit below the knee.
But for Christian conservative activist and Turning Point America founder Charlie Kirk, 28, this was all just too much.
“The NFL is now in the league of sexual anarchy,” he tweeted. “This halftime show should not be allowed on television.”
Ocasio-Cortez had a pithy response: “Like I said, weirdos.”
She was referring to comments she made in December after Republicans attacked her for dating a man who wore sandals in public. She called out the “the Republican fixation on me, women,& LGBT+ people in general” and said that her critics were “creepy weirdos.”
