THE WESTSIDE - Even Fred Rodgers himself would blush by the indifference to those who just want their quality-of-life back.
They want their neighborhood back.
For this "new neighbor" has taken her space to a new level as bicycles and other personal items are across the sidewalk as well as the parking on the street as another oversized vehicle makes its way back to Washington Boulevard at the Venice & Maria border.
These pictures were taken today, August 20th as illegal and out-of-state RVs continue to repopulate this busy corridor despite repeated attempts by city officials and in particular Councilwoman Traci Park (CD-11) who is battling the embedded homeless lobby who places transients, drug dealers and others breaking the law over hard-working Venice tenants just seeking a sense of normalcy in a community where right is now wrong and wrong is now right!
One could only imagine if such conditions existed on the exclusive Venice Canals or some upscale walk street where such things are not tolerated or even possible, but lowly renters must endure this invasion by those who are not a part of Venice or the community in any way, shape or form.
The entire "homeless industrial complex" of not-for-profit bureaucrats continues to protect and enable these horrific conditions without a thought to those who play by the rules.
They enable the law breakers and curse the lowly tenant just trying to make ends meet!
Here in Venice, we have a Homelessness Committee that rarely meets, and when it does it is a lobbying tool and justification to continue to enable these conditions and let the actual residents of Venice be damned!
They will parade out six-figure bureaucratic enablers who would be out of a job if they actually tried to end homelessness as we know it.
For why are Washington Boulevard residents being structurally ignored?
For these conditions have continued for years, and if not for the help of a single council member in Traci Park, one shudders to think how much worse things could become.
The time for sustainable and actual enforcement of banning these RV's is now.
Take a hard look at these photos and conditions and tell me this isn't cruel and unusual?
They come back because enforcement is non-existent.
A "no-tolerance" policy is the only course of action moving forward.
Don't you please, please don't you be my neighbor.
