Say No to Outrageous Hikes on Land Appeal Fees

August 21 2017
Written by NANDC.

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--The city is trying to increase the land use appeal fee 20%.  They think that’s fair. Well, it’s not.  We the taxpayers pay our elected officials to do their job. And, when we the taxpayers appeal their poor decisions, we should not have to pay again.

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, the City Council's PLUM Committee recommended that the City Attorney prepare a new ordinance to increase these fees up to 20%!

Worse, PLUM wants to charge $13,538 to anyone who appeals a land-use decision on environmental grounds. PLUM says this is the "full cost" of having city employees do their jobs!

ALL PLUM COMMITTEE MEMBERS AT THE HEARING VOTED FOR THE FEE HIKES!!

What this increase in fees for environmental issues would do, if adopted, is make any person, community organization, or low income person unable to have a voice on environmental review.
