EASTSIDER-Recent headlines have been detailing the total meltdown at CalPERS. After some secret discipline of the only voice on the Board who lives up to their fiduciary duty (Margaret Brown), we quickly discovered that Chief Investment Officer Ben Meng was out of control, piling up significant investment losses, which were covered up by the Board and key staff. 

PLANNING WATCH-In Los Angeles City Councilmembers Herb Wesson and Paul Koretz have taken a forceful stand against State Senator Scott Wiener’s nine piecemealed housing bills, especially Senate Bill 1120.

PERSPECTIVE--It seems the nation needs a vaccine for bad decisions as much as it does to stop the spread of Covid19. 

RANTZ & RAVEZ-FBI Investigations into LA City Hall corruption involving elected and appointed officials and developers, and the recent arrests of two veteran Councilmembers, suggest there are additional investigations brewing at City Hall. 

HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT-On Thursday, July 16, a little before noon, Essex Property Trust executive John Eudy sent an email to his fellow players in the real estate industry, asking them for campaign contributions — $100 per apartment — to stop Proposition 21.
