THE CITY--Apparently, Eric Garcetti, the mayor of Los Angeles never noticed that his close partner and fundraising champion, Rick Jacobs, with whom he has been embedded for years, had been sexually harassing his LAPD security detail and tongue kissing journalists without authorization or consent. 

PUBLIC HEALTH POLITICS--A public health watchdog on Wednesday praised California's proposal to add the so-called "forever chemical" PFOA to the state's list of chemicals known to cause cancer. 

NEW GEOGRAPHY-America’s political culture has been shaped by its rural and urban environments, each of which tends to be dominated by one party. Urban Republicans are now as rare as rural Democrats. 

MY TURN--The term Hate Crime is a misnomer since a state of mind cannot be a crime. Thus, hate cannot be a crime. The proper name is not “crime” but “enhancement.”

OTHER WORDS-As our nation grapples with its legacy of anti-Asian racism, it’s important to consider the subtler forms of racism too.

LEANING RIGHT--Contrary to the belief of many, no one single party has cornered the market on compassion to immigrants, including from nations so godawful that they have forced millions of migrants to illegally flee for their lives.

LA HOUSING RIGHTS-In the ongoing debate over banning single-family zoning and turning more people into renters, an important detail has been disturbingly overlooked:
