CommentsBCK FILE--With most of us sheltered in place, in tandem with 24/7 media coverage and online exposure, it’s common to experience high levels of anxiety about COVID-19.
During a time when there’s so much unknown, it’s helpful to hear a grounded overview by a medical doctor on the front line.
On March 22, Dr. David Price of the Cornell Weill Medical Center in New York City took to Zoom to explain the novel coronavirus and restated protective measures to his friends and family in a post that has been shared across the country. Dr. Price’s delivery is approachable and empowering in uncertain times.
The steps we are taking as we face this pandemic have changed our daily lives. We’re adjusting to working, socializing, and exercising remotely. We’re making a conscious effort to wash our hands for 20 seconds and to use hand sanitizer when soap is unavailable. When we do go out to get groceries or supplies, we’re consolidating our ventures; no more stepping out to pick up a bag of salad greens or a pint of ice cream.
It’s doctors ike Dr. Price, nurses, and other healthcare workers who are the heroes in this, as well as the employees at grocery stores, pharmacies, those who teach our children online, and all those who provide other essential services.
Let’s do what we can to protect them, to keep our communities safe, doing what we can to flatten the curve and to preserve our precious heatlhcare resources as we move through this together.
Please take a moment to watch this video and share it with your circle. By pulling together and following advice rooted in science and medicine, we will get to the other side of this. Be safe.
