The prestigious honor recognizes Ralph's tireless efforts to champion HIV/AIDS awareness, LGBTQ+ rights, social justice, racial and gender equity, and support for women, girls, and marginalized communities.

Presented annually, the Youth Empowerment Award spotlights individuals whose work significantly uplifts and inspires young people. Sheryl Lee Ralph's extraordinary contributions through The DIVA Foundation—an organization she founded—perfectly embody these ideals. For over three decades, Ralph has harnessed her platform to address critical issues like food and housing insecurity while fostering equity across all walks of life.

The award ceremony took place at The Leslies' 36th Annual Toy Drive and Fundraiser benefiting The Laurel Foundation in Palm Springs on December 7, 2024, where Ralph accepted the award virtually.

This recognition adds to Ralph's growing list of accolades, including her Emmy Award-winning role in Abbott Elementary, where her portrayal of a dedicated teacher mirrors her real-life commitment to nurturing and uplifting others.
