Shooting Survivor Claps Back At Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Anger Over Public Attack

Marjorie Taylor Greene and David Hogg

GUEST COMMENTARY - Anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said, in a tweet, that “an insane women [sic]” and “her adult son” attacked and screamed at her while at a restaurant over Greene’s “different political views.”

In response, school shooting survivor David Hogg reminded Greene that, in 2018, she publicly attacked and screamed at him over his political views on gun reform.

In a Monday tweet, Green wrote, “I was attacked in a restaurant tonight by an insane women [sic] and screamed at by her adult son.

“They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views,” she continued.

“They are self righteous, insane, and completely out of control,” said Greene, a 48-year-old woman who once claimed that all school shootings are fake, that space lasers start wildfires to benefit Jewish-owned businesses, and that Hilary Clinton sliced off and wore a child’s face.

Greene’s tweet continued, “I was sitting at my table, working with my staff, and never even noticed these people until they turned into demons.”

“People used to respect others even if they had different views. But not anymore. Our country is gone,” she concluded. Last week, Greene called for a “national divorce” between blue and red states.

The last time the U.S. had such a division, it resulted in a four year civil war. The war killed over a million Americans, including soldiers, non-combatant civilians, and enslaved people.

In response to Greene’s tweet, Hogg, now age 22, wrote a tweet directly tagging her Twitter screen name.

“@mtgreenee Man that sucks. I was attacked and screamed at in 2018 by an insane woman named Marjorie Taylor Greene. She had no respect for the privacy of me as an 18 year old school shooting survivor or my staff. She was self righteous, insane, and completely out of control,” Hogg wrote.

Hogg became a public advocate for gun reform after surviving the February 14, 2018, shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which killed 17 and injured 17.

In a 2019 viral video, Greene, who was then a U.S. House candidate, chased Hogg down a Washington D.C. sidewalk and said that the Parkland shooter wouldn’t have harmed anyone if the cop at Hogg’s high school had “done his job.”

She asked him, “Why do you support red-flag gun laws that attack our Second Amendment rights? And why are you using kids as a barrier?”

Then, as Hogg ignored her and walked to the Capitol building, Greene shouted, “Do you not know how to defend your stance?” She ended the video by telling the camera that Hogg had nothing to say because he “was paid to do this.”

Hogg later told the media that he actually felt very anxious about Greene pursuing him that day, and only stayed calm because of meditation techniques he has used to deal with his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since the shooting.

Greene has referred to Hogg “#littleHitler.” She has also put firearms at the front of her political identity, appearing in political ads with rifles and giving away guns to constituents.

In a September 2020 Facebook post published by Greene, she shared an image of herself holding a gun next to a picture of the four Democratic congresswomen of color who made up the House’s progressive group known as “the Squad.”

Facebook removed Greene’s post for violating its policy against violent threats after “Squad” member Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted, “Posting a photo with an assault rifle next to the faces of three women of color is not advertising. It’s incitement. There are already death threats in response to this post.”

In February 2021, Hogg said of Greene, “For the sake of the future of our country, she must be removed from Congress. In addition to harassing victims, she has made direct threats to kill her colleagues on Capitol Hill.”
