CommentsBCK FILE--Before Donald Trump ran for president, he was best known by many Americans as a reality star on The Apprentice. Since taking office, he’s issued his catch phrase or received resignations from over 40 administration officials as of Friday when he fired FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe.
Trump’s latest twitter maelstroms point to the possible firing of Special Counsel Robert Mueller who is leading the DOJ investigation of Trump and members of his campaign. Mueller has already subpoenaed and indicted numerous players involved in the Trump campaign, including 13 Russian nationals and 3 entities for allegedly meddling in the 2016 election.
Mueller has also subpoenaed financial documents from the Trump Organization, an act Trump has referred to as “crossing a red line.”
Taking bets on who is next to be axed has become somewhat of a parlor game with many speculating that Attorney Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and Mueller could all be targeted in a move mirroring Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre. Another possibility is that Trump would issue a blanket pardon of anyone indicted, although New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been investigating financial crimes, including money laundering, that Trump would not be able to pardon as state charges.
Pundits and journalists have referred to any of this as a constitutional crisis and the activists at Move.org have a plan in place to mobilize activists in response.
Within hours of a power play by Trump, Move On will hold emergency “Nobody is Above the Law” rallies throughout the country if needed, including numerous events in Southern California.
According to Move On, if actions are triggered before 2 pm local time, events will begin at 5 pm.
If actions are triggered after 2 pm, the events will begin at noon the following day.
