10th Annual Festival Chapín de Los Angeles Celebrates Guatemalan Culture

August 29–30 | Lafayette Park | Free Admission

Experience the sights, sounds, flavors, and traditions of Guatemala at the 10th Annual Festival Chapín de Los Angeles, the largest Guatemalan cultural festival held outside of Guatemala.

Presented by the nonprofit Festival Chapín de Los Angeles, this two-day celebration transforms a seven-block stretch surrounding Lafayette Park into a vibrant showcase of Guatemalan heritage. The festival features live music and entertainment, traditional dance performances, arts and crafts, cultural exhibits, family activities, and authentic Guatemalan cuisine.

Festival-goers can purchase favorite Chapín specialties including garnachas, shucos (Guatemalan-style hot dogs), chicken pepián, enchiladas, hilachas, and many other traditional dishes. Visitors can also browse artisan booths offering handcrafted pottery, jewelry, clothing, textiles, purses, footwear, and other Guatemalan imports.

Admission is free, and the event welcomes visitors of all ages from throughout Southern California.

The festival is presented by Chapin Summer Festival Inc., a California nonprofit dedicated to preserving and promoting Guatemalan culture while supporting educational, health, and humanitarian programs for underserved children in Guatemala.
