A memorial gathering will be held to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Edward J. Blakely, an internationally recognized scholar, urban planner, and former Dean of the USC School of Urban Planning and Development.

Dr. Blakely was widely respected for bridging academic research with public service, with a career spanning decades of work in economic development, social justice, and post-disaster recovery. His influence was felt globally, from Los Angeles to Australia, and through advisory roles following major disasters including Hurricane Katrina. He is remembered as a passionate educator, a trusted public servant, and a warm mentor committed to improving communities.
