VOICES-(Re: Dennis Zine’s CityWatch column ‘Riding Rapid Transit to See the Dodgers—Some Good, Some Bad’) As someone who's taken the Dodger Express once or twice, I can empathize with the frustrations that come with sitting in traffic with everyone else. Nowadays my girlfriend and I just bike to the games since it's a lot faster than any other way. Also – and we're pretty lucky in this -- we have a route from our house to the Stadium that doesn't have street sections where we fear we might die.
I've lived here for four and a half years now, taking Metro, and I would agree with you. Any Sheriff's deputies I see on Metro are usually checking people's TAP cards at the gates, not policing behavior on the trains and the Orange and Silver lines. I’ve never seen any deputies on popular bus lines like the 720 or 704. Anecdotal as that may be, this is my impression.
I serve on the board of Los Angeles Walks, an advocacy group for people walking in LA. One of my colleagues, Daveed Kapoor, an architect from Solano Canyon, has been working on a path from the Chinatown Gold Line station straight to the Stadium for some time now.
It's a good plan, and it could be a good way to give folks who take Metro another way to the Stadium.
