Primary Election Expenditure Ceiling Lifted in Council District 4 Race

ARCHIVE

The Sacramento based Independent Expenditure Committee supporting Steve Veres (Safe Neighborhood & Better Schools for Steve Veres for City Council 2015)has spent over $85,000. As a result, the spending cap has been lifted.

Funding sources totaling $35,000 have been identified, both of which appear to do business with the LA Community College District where Veres is an elected trustee.

The difference between expenditures ($85,000) and disclosed contributions ($35,000) has caused the LA Times to raise questions.

Mailers backing candidates Veres, Martinez don't list major donors

Veres campaign contributions have averaged over $500 which implies that there is a network of contributors who have maxed out at $700.

Veres has not received matching funds.  This implies that most of his money has come from out of the district.
