#  VNC Committee Endorses Town Hall on Illegal RV Parking With A 5-0 Vote!

 WESTSIDE - The Parking, Transportation &amp; Infrastructure Committee of the Venice Neighborhood Council unanimously voted Monday evening to request the full board plan and organize a "Town Hall" meeting on the topic of illegally parked RVs on the streets of Venice.

The problem which has spread to several community corridors including Washington Boulevard, Lincoln Boulevard, Penmar &amp; Rose Avenue was approved by a 5-0 vote.

This standing committee consists of Chairman Richard Stanger, Selena Inouye (ranking member), Andreas Kemkes, Colin Warn and David Wolf who were present. Members Crystal Lopez and Ellen Schwartz were absent. Also in attendance were VNC board officers Helen Fallon, Clark Brown, Erica Moore and Lisa Redmond.

Selena Inouye crafted the motion which was amended to reflect a discussion on the issue of RVs parked on the streets of Venice as it has been discussed many times in the past with little progress or results. A major sweep of Washington Boulevard took place earlier this year which saw marked progress, only to slide back to these RVs returning. Those efforts were spearheaded by LA City Councilwoman Traci Park (CD-11), while LA County's commitment has been ambivalent to non-existent.

Under public comment, one stakeholder expressed initial opposition to the Town Hall claiming that there were unnecessary circumstances to remove these illegal vehicles taking up space and the crime that comes with permanent, long-term parking. VNC Treasurer Helen Fallon expressed skepticism about the Town Hall and the conditions that currently exist as she has in the past, specifically to the multitude of RVs on Washington Boulevard.

Nevertheless, she further commented on the final wording of the committee's motion which was amended to everyone's satisfaction.

Inouye handled the public portion of the meeting and successfully navigated the language that resulted in the 5-0 vote. Should the VNC approve the Town Hall, further details will be flushed out, and other committees would be invited to participate with the Outreach Committee headed by Erica Moore handling the date and actual organization of the event by the spring of 2026.

In his chair report, Stanger discussed ideas to make the Venice Windward Circle more pedestrian friendly, as well as funding sources for capital improvements.

The only other item on the short agenda was approval of a WRAC motion supporting a request by UCLA to shift its subway station site.

The motion passed 4-0-1.

It was announced that there will be no December meeting and that the PTIC will meet again in January of 2026.

The meeting adjourned at roughly 7:40 PM.
