 They came to kill people." As a result of that stark fact, a dutiful FBI has to date arrested and charged over 200 perpetrators amidst [rumors ](https://www.democraticunderground.com/100215085529)of "a tsunami" of indictments coming.

Many of those tracked down have been easy to find [thanks to ](https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-media/selfies-social-media-posts-making-it-easier-fbi-track-down-n1254522)their oblivious selfies and social media posts; helping bring them to justice has also been an army of amateur online sleuths like [Sedition Track,](https://seditiontracker.com/) which keeps a database of suspects by date, name, state and [status ](https://seditiontracker.com/suspects/by_status)of those suspected of "incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority."

Despite the multiple arrests and implacable timelines and [videos](https://twitter.com/therecount/status/1359627908948590595?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1359627908948590595%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fdigbysblog.net%2F%20%20) of lawmakers scrambling to safety just steps from rabid crowds yelling "Hang Mike Pence!" and creepy-sing-songy-chanting "Nannnn-cy??" - despite what Charles Pierce [calls ](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2021/02/10/%20%20%20https%3A/www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a35474702/trump-impeachment-trial-videos-evidence-incitement-insurrection/)that "burial job," that "feast of shame" - or at least it would be if Republicans had any - the GOP has, astonishingly, *still* [responded](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/02/10/gop-closes-out-trump-era-replaying-all-his-greatest-rhetorical-hits/?itid=lk_inline_manual_2) with see-and-hear-no evil denial.

Thus, GOP Senators' dripping [contempt ](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2021/02/10/The%20Washington%20Post)for Wednesday's proceedings, even unto the thunderclaps. Rand Paul, who "[wrote ](https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/impeachment-trial-trump-challenge-sen-rand-paul)a Fox op-ed calling the trial "of dubious merit," doodled on a pad. Chuck Grassley read on a hidden iPad, though he reportedly glanced up when the mob shrieked "Hang Mike Pence!" Rick Scott, who has called the trial "a waste of time," studied papers in his lap; Tom Cotton and Marco Rubio likewise found Very Important Things to read.

The seditious Josh Hawley [lied ](https://ktvo.com/news/local/sen-hawley-on-trump-impeachment-trial-unconstitutional-to-try-convict-private-citizen)the trial is unconstitutional, Ted Cruz [told](https://hannity.com/media-room/cruz-dems-impeachment-frenzy-fueled-by-rage-anger-and-hate-for-donald-trump/) Hannity it's because "they hate Donald Trump" and every January "we're going to be doing another impeachment," Kevin Cramer [sneered, ](https://www.cramer.senate.gov/news/press-releases/sen-cramer-statement-on-senate-beginning-second-impeachment-trial-of-former-president-donald-j-trump)“Welcome to the stupidest week in the Senate.”

Their silence, of course, is the sound of their complicity: They want to [ignore ](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2021/02/10/Ignore%20)the horrors of the Capitol riot because most of them are guilty of inciting it. [Hillary Clinton](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2021/02/10/In%20a%20post%20): "If Senate Republicans fail to convict Donald Trump, it won't be because the facts were with him or his lawyers mounted a competent defense.

It will be because the jury includes his co-conspirators." For all the cogent professionalism of Jamie Raskin and other Democrats, some observers have longed for brutal truth-telling: WTF is wrong with you bootlickers and why are you protecting this scumbag?

Rep. Joaquin Castro [came](https://twitter.com/JoaquinCastrotx?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) closest. "Senators, you have seen all the evidence," he [said.](https://twitter.com/JoaquinCastrotx/status/1359671259676737538?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) "On Jan. 6, President Trump left everyone at this Capitol for dead."
