The World is Not Coming to an End. . .YET!

RANTZ & RAVEZ-Many of us are wondering how our routine lives and those of our families and friends could have abruptly and dramatically changed from tranquility to a state fear and anxiety in just a few days.

Our children are no longer attending school and we are not fighting traffic or going to work as if it were a holiday. However, this is not a holiday for any of us. If you are a business owner, you are worried about your production and how you are going to pay your employees, your bills or receive payments from those who owe you money. It doesn’t matter if you are a large or small business. You are all suffering from the same anxiety, worry and frustration. What the hell is happing to your successful life and happiness?

If you are an employee, you and your colleagues have all been sent home. You’ve been told that your job has ended for the immediate future. You are not sure if or when you will receive any salary that you are due. How are you going to make your house payment, pay your rent or water and power or assortment of other monthly bills?

Your neighbors are talking about being in the same situation of fear and great anxiety. This exists everywhere you go. You can’t even go to Sunday church services or Friday night temple or any other house of worship activity since groups may not assemble in a confined space. How could this have happened?

Never in your life have you encountered a situation in which the entire United States and countries around the world have stopped normal life, education and work. This has affected millions and millions of people. It doesn’t matter if you are a Liberal, a conservative Democrat or a Republican – we are all facing the same uncertainties and concern for ourselves, our families and friends. Is there any hope or relief in sight?

Only time will tell when we can return to life as it once was even with all its other challenges that we considered significant. In reality, many of those problems were not such a big a deal compared to what we are now experiencing with the Coronavirus.

I pray to God Almighty that this time in history will pass quickly and we can return to the way of life where we can appreciate traffic jams on our roadways and even potholes and other situations we once complained about daily.

Who do we blame for the dramatic change in life we are all experiencing?

How did we get to this situation where something like T.P. or paper towels or other paper products are not readily available to buy at local neighborhood markets – unless you get up before dawn and wait in line for over an hour to make a limited one item purchase? (I’m glad I usually purchase these items in bulk when paper products go on sale at Costco.)

This Coronavirus originated in China. I will be politically incorrect and call it what it is. A Chinese virus.  When I visited China in the past, I saw how polluted the country is. There are no pollution controls; the water is filthy, along with the air. Eating rodents and bats is part of the culture. And there is no grading system for dining locations. This is real.

So, what do we do now?

Have faith in our medical researchers. Be glad that Democrats and Republicans in Washington, DC are working together to return us to normalcy, to the way of life we love and cherish -- church on Sunday, work and family time. May God bless you all as we look for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Stay safe.
