AYS will return to South LA community center, A Place Called Home, to bring classical music to South Central families and the local community with a free concert on March 10, 2023! Supported by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, the concert will feature AYS string musicians performing in APCH's performance space, The Bridge Theater. Prior to the performance, there will also be an instrument petting zoo and instrument demonstrations. Audiences of all ages are welcome; doors will open at 6:30 PM and the concert will begin at 7 PM. The event will also feature a lively dance performance of CDPH’s new “Test It. Treat It. You Can Beat It.”. - What: CDPH to promote effectiveness and availability of COVID-19 treatments at “Shots of Love” mobile clinic event in South LA. - When: Tuesday, February 14 from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Where: Minority Aids Project at 5149 W. Though national and state emergency orders are anticipated to be lifted, COVID-19 infection and mortality rates still impact a lot of people. The good news is COVID-19 treatments are widely available to help higher-risk Californians recover. COVID-19 antiviral medicines target specific parts of the virus to stop it from multiplying in the body and infecting more cells. They can stop the illness from getting serious, and can reduce the risk of hospitalization and death by half, if they are taken in the first 5-7 days of symptoms. In addition, early evidence suggests COVID-19 treatments may lower the risk of developing long COVID symptoms, and may help people test negative sooner. The medications are highly effective, widely available and free, regardless of insurance or citizenship status. The vast majority of American adults and some teens are eligible for COVID-19 treatments, but there is still more work to do to ensure all Californians are aware of their effectiveness and availability.
