It was really just a matter of whether it was an internal or external abuse of power. With a sitting Democratic president, known for his aversion to the law and truth, it is an automatic assumption that he may be behind this effort.

> Quite frankly, you’re hoping it doesn’t lead to Obama because he has enjoyed his Kevlar armor protected presidency thus far. So I find myself actually hoping that the culprits behind this corrupt effort are few and more vulnerable to justice. Now I admit this seems a bit sad that justice has been so weakened that it can only catch its prey if it is on life support, but it’s all the enthusiasm I can muster after watching Eric Holder before Congress.

Of course it was going to be an indictment of the process, an undermining of its legitimacy, but give the man the opportunity to feign disgust so it can come back and bite him in the ass. Silencing Cummings is no different than silencing the conservative non-profits.
